About

Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, combining multiple lines of evidence with a deep understanding of natural processes to create practical and enduring environmental solutions

We are specialists in land and water science providing technical expertise in geomorphology and catchment management. By integrating field-based evidence, spatial data technologies and a deep understanding of natural processes, we help our clients make informed environmental decisions with confidence.

We are passionate about protecting and enhancing the landscapes and ecosystems that sustain our communities. We believe that healthy natural systems are fundamental to Australia's future, and we are committed to applying science that delivers practical and enduring environmental outcomes.

Our connection to the Australian landscape extends well beyond our professional work. Whether close to home or further afield, we spend our own time exploring the rivers, mountains and coastlines that inspire our work. That firsthand experience continues to shape how we understand and care for the environments we work in. Our decisions are informed not only by technical knowledge but by genuine curiosity, careful observation and a deep appreciation for the places we seek to protect.

Who we are

With more than 15 years of experience, Third Land has delivered projects across New South Wales and Queensland, ranging from whole-of-catchment assessments to site-scale investigations. Our work integrates geomorphology, environmental science, river management and spatial analysis to understand how landscapes function and respond to change and can be managed more effectively.

Our specialist capability includes catchment and waterway management, river channel form and process, gully erosion, floodplain development and landscape evolution, as well as the application of GIS, lidar and remote sensing technologies to environmental assessment and change detection. We have developed strong expertise in nature-based erosion management and bank stabilisation to help restore natural landscape function.

We work with government agencies, local councils, natural resource managers, industry and community organisations to deliver evidence-based assessments, strategic planning, monitoring programs and practical restoration solutions that support informed environmental decision-making.

our experience

Environmental challenges rarely fit within a single discipline. While our core capability lies in landscape and waterway science, we work closely with a trusted network of specialists to assemble the right expertise for each project.

This collaborative approach enables us to provide integrated technical solutions while maintaining the responsiveness and personal service of a specialist consultancy. By bringing together complementary expertise, we deliver outcomes that are technically robust and tailored to our clients' needs.

We welcome opportunities to collaborate with consultants, researchers, Traditional Owners, government agencies and community organisations who share our commitment to evidence-based environmental management.
